Title: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H problems with windows and ram -- postcode 15 51
Post by: knobblez on June 22, 2013, 10:26:52 pm: I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard. This is an ongoing problem. I've swapped everything on it. I've sent in the motherboard and received a brand new one... Same thing. The code on the board displays 15, then quickly changes to 51. It sits on that for a few seconds, beeps one time; immediately shutting off. Help!

UPDATE** I can get into BIOS with 1 stick in slot 4 ONLY.

UPDATE**** When I run Windows Repair it beeps and freezes the loading bar immediately. Do you guys think I've got a bad hard drive?

Check for bent pins in CPU socket.

1. What is the CPU that you are running?

2. What is the memory that you are running?

3. What is the Bios Version that you are running?

BIOS: it shows the loadup for bios but it shuts off. im not sure how to find this out..

I note you have a GA-Z77X-UD5H (rev. 1.0) Right ?
Otherwise check in page 3 of manual for How to ....

Have you check with one stick of RAM (good stick - not defective) in each slot of Ram?

Maybe you have a slot of RAM bad... so verify each slot of RAM, with only one module of ram.

If you have two RAM modules, you put them in slots 1 & 2 or 3 & 4.
Look at the diagram and associated table carefully.
You do NOT place them together next to each other.

Cpu sandy or ivory bridge?

If you can get into the bios, once you are in there hit F9. That will give you all your system info.

Or the one near the edge of the board. If you are looking at the board the slot are # in this order.

The one next to the CPU is #4 than #2 than #3 & than #1 edge of the board. The memory should be in #1 & #2

Do you have any spare RAM,this one you have is ELPIDA IC chips .
So,both sticks can boot only in slot 4? (of course one by one)

Disconnect all HD (SSD),video card,CD/DVD writer,sound output,USB drivers and keep connected only memory, keyboard and mouse.
Video output take from board itself on back panel.
What is your PSU model,all connection is OK?

Post by: knobblez on June 24, 2013, 05:30:53 pm: I have 2 RAM sticks exactly the same model. I have tried 1 stick (tested with each stick) in 1 slot at a time. slot 4 makes the most progress. I cannot get into the BIOS because my computer shuts off before I can access anything.

Is it possible I need to clean out the seat that my processor sits into?

ALL i have running is Motherboard, Hard Drive(it gives error if not), RAM. I have to start it from the motherboard because I have nothing in the tower plugged into it.

I believe it's sandy. I'll double check and edit

I went through my processor seat and found some heatsink on the contacts. i cleaned it with a toothbrush-like tool and contact cleaner so now it's looking sparkly and beautiful. I fired it up and got to BIOS system info (F9) for about 3 seconds before it beeped and kicked off. When I tried to fire it up a couple more times it turned on for approximately 1-1.5 seconds then turned off.

**NOTE** I tried a separate power supply when I was having this problem prior to receiving my replacement motherboard and received the same results. I do not believe my power supply is faulty.

Any ideas?
