Title: GA-X79S-UP5-WIFI V1.0 & GT640/PCI-E 3.0
Post by: blueskies on June 25, 2013, 01:46:03 pm
New build by me. I know enough to be dangerous so any suggestons are appreciated.
Gigabyte Mother Board GA-X79-UP5-WIFI
Intel I7-3820
Gigabyte Video GT640 PCI-E 2GB
Memory 4-pcs 8GB DDR-3 1600 MHZ Super Talent
Cooler Master GX 750W

All I get is the Gigabyte start up screen and cannot access the bios. After about 90 seconds I get a flashing curser on a black screen. When I put in a different video card, Gateway NVIDIA 7300 everything works. Thinking I need a bigger PSU. Have a feeling this is an easy solution.

Any suggestions?

Which Bios Version is your MB now?

The GT640 is relatively new card and needs an updated BIOS to be detected correctly.

Can you try updating to one of the latest BIOS and try to boot with the GT640 Card?

Thank you very much. Updating the BIOS or UEFI was what it needed.

First I tried the F3 version. No luck
Then tried the F4w and everything appears to be working.
Did not realize I was on bleeding edge tech. Stupid me.

Thanks again
