Hi All, just need a few pointers at which SSD to choose for my old X58 USB3 mb
Because its an older board now and all the new SSD are sata 3 etc i dont want to waste money on top end stuff but i do want a top SSD to suitethe capabilities of my MB if you follow ;p
I am updating my OS to W7 Pro so i can utilize my 24gig of ram, on the SSD i want to obviously run the OS, Poser Pro, 3DsMAX and a few other 3d creative software programs. they are all around 12 to 20 GIG in size so i would like maybe a 512gig (ish) SSD to cover other programs i would also like to run from it.
Budget is around £300 for the SSD and i prefer scan.co.uk but are open to anywhere where there is a good deal.
Thanks for any info offered,
Cheers,
Vale.

Well, if it were my money I would probably go for:
1) 480 Gb Drive from OCZ - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/480gb-ocz-agility-3-ssd-25-sata-6gb-s-sandforce-2281-read-525mb-s-write-410mb-s-30k-iops I have a couple of these and they are very good drives.
2) Samsung 256GB - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/256gb-samsung-840-pro-series-basic-25-ssd-7mm-3-core-mdx-21nm-toggle-nand-read-540mb-s-write-520mb-s Not the size you are looking for but, if/ when you upgrade your system these SSD's are some of the best at the moment for read/write speeds.
3) 240Gb OCZ Agility - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/240gb-ocz-agility-3-25-ssd-read-525mb-s-write-500mb-s-refurbished I have used several of these in some recent builds for friends and family and also have a few myself. Very good drives and you could get two of these on your budget.
For what it's worth, on my main PC I have a 240GB Corsair SSD as my primary drive and despite installing some rather large programs such as Native Instruments complete, Cubase 7 + extras, Waves Mercury, Adobe Creative Suite 6, I still have quite a bit of room left. However, I have moved folders such as My Music, My Documents, Videos etc., on to a second SSD.

Thanks Absic,
The Samsung Pro looks very nice, but fo another £70 i can get the 512 version ? think i will add up my programs and see exactly how much space i need for the SSD.
Thanks matey ;)
