Hi,

I just bought a Kingston KHX2400C11D3/4GX 2x 4GB kit.
It runs Windows, but when I try to test using PerformanceTest the PC will stall at memory test.
Memtest will also stall at approx 10% into the test.

I see that my RAM isn't on the compatibility list, and not any DDR3 2400 modules are on the list. Have I bought the wrong RAM sticks?

I use XMP in bios and the timings are:
Channels         Dual
Memory Frequency      1200.0 MHz (2:12)
CAS# latency (CL)      11.0
RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD)   13
RAS# Precharge (tRP)      13
Cycle Time (tRAS)      30
Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC)   192
Command Rate (CR)      2T
Uncore Frequency      3600.0 MHz

What to do?
Please note that I'm a newbie to RAM settings.  :)

IMHO, while u using XMP profile, your cpu might overheat if you using stock cpu fan .
pls  try the ram without XMP profile first. If everything going well, the ram should be ok with your mobo, and u may need a better cpu cooler.
or maybe u can try to over clock it in  slower speed (than XMP) without using XMP.

Where can I see which timings/settings I should use then? Or should I try the settings set by the XMP, which I posted in my first post?

First of all you board doesn't support DDR3-2400 memory. Support for that board DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules.

The 2nd things is that your CPU will only support maybe DDR3 1600. Everything over that will maybe have to be OC.

You can still run that memory but it will default to 1333. What you can try and do go into the bios and set it to the default settings.

Then go back into try and setting the speed only and without XMP profile. You will have to play around with the speed.

To you get one that the board and CPU like. More likely it will be 1600 or 1866.

Thx for your replies.
I set the timings to  2000 Mhz, 4,14,14,31 and it runs stable.
How much more performance could I gain from running at lower values ie: 11,12,11,30?

I'm on another forum and we talk about the different speeds & timings. We all agree that if you ran 1333, 1600, 1866, &  2133.

Do really see a performance change. Most people would not even knowing that they change the memory, speed or timings.

All you can do is try it. You do have something to back on if it doesn't work.
