Title: Need help finding raid preinstall driver.
Post by: Hound Dog on October 02, 2013, 12:07:38 pm
Need a little help here folks. Got a GA-M57SLI-S4 MB Rev 2.00. Were can I find a raid preinstall driver for Win 7 pro 64 that works? I've downloaded it off of Gigabyte's site but windows will not recognize it. Then again I've thrown everything that has the word raid at it and it still says no. The one I downloaded off the site seems to be zipped some how but I can't open it. Or at least Win Zip does not recognize it. It never fails, every mobo I've set up with raid. I go though this no matter what brand it is. Thanks in advance for the help. Bob

Thanks Tiger for the link but it didn't work. That is the same driver package that is on Gigabytes site. Obviously there is something you got to do here that I'm missing. I sent a e-mail to Gigabyte tech support and the told me they do not have a preinstall down load for that motherboard and to check with the chip manufacture. This is just getting plain dumb. Thanks again, Bob

I downloaded the file "motherboard_driver_bootdisk_nvidia_vistax64.exe" from Gigabyte.
I tried in on a computer with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. It did not work even in compatibility mode.
I tried in on a computer with Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit.  The file ran fine with 6 files extracted. These are the files:

12/22/2006  08:17 PM           379,392 IDECOI.DLL
12/27/2006  11:47 AM             9,964 NVRAID.CAT
12/22/2006  08:17 PM           385,536 NVRAIDCO.DLL
12/27/2006  01:43 AM             6,450 NVRD64.INF
12/22/2006  09:58 PM           157,992 NVRD64.SYS
12/22/2006  09:58 PM           120,104 NVSTOR64.SYS
6 File(s)      1,059,438 bytes

I tried in on the computer with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit again.
This time I ran Windows XP Mode which emulates Windows XP Pro 32-bit. This time it ran fine and extracted the 6 files.

Do you have access to another computer with a 32-bit Windows?
If not you can run the file in Windows XP Mode if your motherboard and CPU supports it.
Windows XP Mode is a free download if you have Windows 7 Pro or Windows 7 Ultimate.
