Title: Can't post with GA-H77-DS3H
Post by: darrylyao on October 22, 2013, 03:49:11 am
I'm having trouble getting the machine to post at all.

Here's the hardware configuration:

Power Supply --- EVGA Supernova NEX750G 750W power supply
CPU --- Intel Core i3-3240 LGA1155 3.40GHz, 3MB Cache
Hard Drive --- ADATA 2.5" 6GB/s SP900 SATA SSD 64GB
Ram --- G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800 CL9D 2x4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24
Optical --- Asus Blu-Ray RW

I've also got a Gigabyte GTX680 video card I tried using, along with several other hard drives
I've tried it with all components in
I've tried it with only CPU/Motherboard/RAM
I've tried it with only CPU/Mobo/RAM/SSD
I've tried it with only CPU/Mobo/RAM/Optical

I've tried resetting the cmos by unplugging the PSU, removing the battery, and touching a flat-edge screwdriver to the CMOS reset prongs for 5 seconds.

Basically, I power the machine on, the front lights start up, the fans turn on, and after about 10 seconds, everything shuts down, and after another 2-3 seconds, it tries to start back up, and the cycle simply repeats itself.

The motherboard unfortunately doesn't seem to have any POST indicators, or at least none that I'm seeing.

I also can't seem to get any visual output to a monitor over DVI or HDMI, and I've tried both the onboard video outs as well as with the GTX680.

I'm completely at a loss here, any help would be appreciated.

you may change other PSU to check.
if other PSU can boot up the system, you may need to check with EVGA about NEX750G.

Tried the PSU (Antec 850W) from my main machine (P755D-E, 16GB RAM, i7 (LGA1156), GTX780), same effect.
No lights, no beeps, just powers up, fans on, no display, around 10 seconds, then dies, and re-cycles

Couple things to look at or try. Check to make sure you don't have a bent pin in the CPU socket.

Do you have the CPU fan plugged into the right power port. Try one stick of memory at a time.

Yep, you've got it, I pulled out the cpu to discover a whole patch of little prongs bent on the motherboard. Dunno how it happened, but luckily it's under 5 days old so i've begun the RMA process through the vendor from which I purchased the motherboard.

Was the little plastic cover over the CPU socket when you got it. I always check the socket before I put in the CPU. I got burn with that one too one time.
