Title: Will GA-Z77P-D3 work with Intel Pentium dual G2120 3.1ghz CPU

Hi I was wondering before I buy the GA-Z77P-D3 if it would take the G2120 Ivy bridge processor straight from the box (without the need to update bios first). The reason I need confirmation on this is because previous to this I had the GA-Z86AP-D3 mobo and it wouldn't take the CPU without updating the bios first (which I couldn't do as I don't have a Sandy bridge CPU to do it).

A definitive answer would be great as I can't afford to lose any more money building my PC.

That is a very hard one to answer. Because you need a CPU to find out what bios you have on the board.

The only way you might be able to find that out is where you are getting the board from. Have them check to see if the F7 bios is on the board.

That bois is over a year older and it might be on the board. That bios came out in 08/2012.

I think you should be reasonably safe as the Z77 chipset board is much younger compared to the Z68

The earlier F6 bios (no longer listed on the support site) supported ivy bridge (google) so it probably
supported ivy bridge from the day it was launched.
