Title: PC won't boot - X79-UP4
Post by: Conker on November 17, 2013, 08:49:38 pm
Hi, I have the GA-X79-UP4 rev. 1.0  motherboard and my PC won't boot, the PC was working perfect before I used the mobo's disk and installed a few drivers and restarted the PC so I think those old drivers screw up the mobo and now it doesn't recognize the hard disk, the bios detect the hard drive but it won't boot, I tried formatting using the Windows 7 installation disk and the hard drive doesn't appear in the setup, tried installing the new mobo drivers on the Win7 setup but still nothing, updated the Bios through an usb drive and still the same problem. It's not the hard drive cause I have tried with another cable sata and a new hard drive already.

It shows this message on startup: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

I have one week unable to use my PC because of this and I don't know what to do.

How is the sata controller setup in the bios. IDE, Raid or AHCI mode. It should be set to IDE or AHCI

AHCI Mode, after the installation of the mobo's drivers and restarting I pressed a key to see what is the Xpress Recovery2 then clicked on reboot and that was the last thing I did before the problem, I didn't changed anything on the Bios.

The only other thing I can say is clear the cmos and take out the battery for about 15 mins.
