Title: Strange USB 3 problem
Post by: russtobin on December 17, 2013, 01:58:54 pm
Got a x58a-ud3r running with i7 950/6GB Corsair/OCZ Vertex 2E Bigfoot 120GB 3.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive/Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache/Win 7 64bit.

Had a problem I think from first build whereby writing to external hdd via usb 3 port causes freeze. ctrl/alt/delete to end task causes all desktop icons to disappear.

Bios is uptodate as is the NEC usb 3 driver.

Anybody got any ideas??

Just asking if you plug it into a USB-2 port does it freeze?

To be honest that I had 6 of those boards and never had problems with the USB 3 ports. Here is another thread on the problem.

Thanks for that.

All the signs seem to be pointing towards a hardware issue.

I'm going to try a pcie card over the next couple of days and see what happens.

Should I disable the onboard usb3 in bios before i try the card option??
