Title: old motherboards

Hi, I'm new at this. I built 2 gigabyte mb ,EP45-UD3P and G31M-ES2L. they all run ok. Should update the BIOS on them It's been about 5-6 years now
Do they need to be updated.anything else I can do to them I have pentium doual-core cpu E5200 in both of them
can any one tell me how to do it? and overclock them for fun and learn more about the mb  I want to learn more and how DIY myself. I'm sure it's old stuff to most of you. but I want to learn all this stuff I can

If you are not having any problems with the boards leave bios a lone. If you trying to run some new hardware like a video card. Then yes maybe update them.

If these board support Q-Flash than just go into the bios in there it will tell what F1 to F12 key to hit.

Just make sure you have the right version of the board before you download anything for that board.

If looking at the board in a tower case the version # is in the bottom left corner.

An easy and fun way to overclock your E5200's is to pin mod them

Take a look at the thread below

There will be plenty of overclocking guides on LGA775 CPU's through bios also.
Generally the key is find the max FSB the board chipset will get to and be stable -some are better than others.
For example you should get more from the P45 chipset board.

You then work with the fixed CPU multiplier(or lower), vcore and ram divider to get a stable overclock.
