Title: GA-H87M-HD3 problems

Just purchased this board and updated the BIOS to F5 from F3 and was wondering what what meant by
(Note) The USB driver must be updated in advanced. In the description of the bios update.

I had already installed the latest USB drivers from the Gigabyte website before the BIOS update.
What is meant by updated in advanced?

Also before I updated the BIOS when the pc rebooted after installing the USB3 drivers, the pc hang after post. Had to press the reset button for it to boot back into windows. Because of this I updated the BIOS thinking that it may solve this issue, but after the BIOS update, the pc refuses to load into windows after a reset from within windows, as before. 

The strange thing is this also happened to me on another board (asus) which was sent back because it was deemed faulty. Surely this isn't just a coincidence?

After the update did you clear the cmos and set it the default settings?

Yes I cleared CMOS by clearing the CMOS jumper and then going into the bios to load optimised defaults. But the problem still persists. If I shut the PC down and switch off the PSU and then switch it back on, the PC will boot. Or I have to press the reset button. This has happened now on two different boards. I have even used another power supply to see if there was an issue with the PSU, but it's still the same.

The funny thing is, I can install windows and load all the updates, but as soon as I install these USB drivers this restarting issue arises.

Have you tried different setting in the XHCI Mode in Peripherals.

No, will have a look. Any particular option(s) I should be looking at? I would have thought using the default settings would have been all that was needed. I've never had the need to do this in the past, but then I suppose its down to these fairly new bios's.

It would seem that this board dosn't like the Smart Auto option. Changed it to Auto in XHCI Mode and hey presto, everything installed.

Glad you got it. It is like the book is getting worse all the time. Well they think everybody that is building a computer know this stuff.

The book is showing less & less info all the time. Most of the stuff you learn is by mistake. The book isn't showing the stuff you really need.
