Title: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H Motherboard
Post by: Janus12th on January 30, 2014, 10:20:20 am
Good Morning

Could Someone Please offer some advice - i am planning on building a Pc based around the Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H Motherboard but as i am in the transition of going from usb 2 to usb 3  i still have certain items that are usb 2 i wish to keep and the GA-Z87X-D3H only has 2 usb slots available on the back panel - the spec for the board says there is another 4 available - so my question is these extra 4 are the via a header as the spec says 2 headers so im confused about 4 - and second headers are they just to attach the front usb or other front items or is there a way to get extra usb2 round the back ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Each header will support two USB ports or more it is in how many are connected to the plug.

Plus you could find something like this too. http://www.ebay.com/itm/StarTech-USBPLATELP-2-Port-USB-A-Female-Low-Profile-Slot-Plate-Adapter-US-/390743630185?pt=US_Computer_Case_Accessories_Tool_Kits&hash=item5afa22a169

Yes they will work on the 4 pin plug connector. When they are 4 pin that is for speed control.

Is there a way to determine whats an exhaust or intake fan or is that already done by the motherboard and i just plug in a go - so to speak

On all fans the open side is the intake and the support side is exhaust. If you hold it in your hand without getting your fingers into the fan part.

That way you can tell which way the fan blows. Plus you can plug them in even when the computer is on.

Plus the fan will only plug in one way too. If you turn the plug around. You could burn up the fan other the board that is why they make the plug that way.
