Hello
I have a A-10 7850K + G1.Sniper A88X Rev 3.0 setup with F7 BIOS. I also have a R280X ASUS card so I want to disable the IGP on the BIOS however, if I do that, the system doesn't boot at all. I doesn't matter whether I set north/south bridge for the videocard, motherboard doesn´t boot. I have also tried with F8a and F6 BIOS with same result. Any ideas?

Very odd indeed... ??? :-\ I've got the same mobo and i'm able to disable the integrated igp of my A8-5600K... I'm just waiting for the prices of the 7850K and 7700K to go down in order to buy one of them but now i'm seeing your trouble i will think about it... Why not contacting through the GGTS Service a Gibabyte technical agent for your trouble ? He should be able to help you ;)

if you're going down the APU route, why would you want to disable onboard graphics?

Why would you want to disable IGP in the Kaveri ,which is the new breed.
This Kaveri APU-s are built to behave as a unitary processing unit all together.The GPU and CPU parts will work together in HSA applications.
Just leave it be if everything works.
Maybe it s a BIOS bug but it can be by design
I am not sure ,but most probable the iGPU in the APU may add some performance to the discrete card as well.
Kaveri is not like the other APU-s AMD released ,it s the first Fusion processing unit made with the intention of putting CPU and GPU cores work together.

Well answered Vezina they will maybe release a new version of bios to add this function...Maybe this trouble is part of the design of Kaveri chip i don't know...But i think that when a discrete graphics card is plugged the igp will be automatically disabled...

personally i'd leave it enabled, especially with kaveri's architecture.

No ,he wouldn t. :)
FM2+ platform has PCI-E 3.0 and native USB 3.0 (which on AM3+ has poor implementation from 3-rd parties)
Then it s the Kaveri quads that have the equivalent performance power of a six core and as Mantle gets into more games the CPU power will be less important
And why not approach the power efficiency which since FM2 is much better compared to AM3+ platform.
The chipset is also rather cool compared to the AM3+ 9xx
FM2+ is simply superior to AM3+ and even the price for a FM2+ is much lower compared to a proper AM3+ board.
He made the right choice choosing the FM2 + platform.
If the motherboard has some bugs it s another story I will personally buy a FM2+ board once new revisions came up in future months ,I ve had the bad idea to buy a AM3+ board before the CPU-s really show up and i got a dud with a 970A-UD3 full of bugs and FX CPU throttle :)
In one or two months bugs will be ironed out at BIOS level and he should be able to enjoy the machine as he intends to.

Really well spoken Vezina, your title of "hero member" is really justified ;) :D For my case my rig hasn't got any problem at all, i've disabled the igp of my 5600K as i'm using the graphics card that you can see on my signature and this rig has been only set up for these just released Kaveri... i only hope AMD will release a new batch/revision of them to improve the memory latency of this architecture which is worse than Richland/Trinity...and i'm also waiting for their prices to go down... for me 110 € (instead of 169 € for the 7850K) and 90 € (instead of 149 € for the 7700K) are the right prices for them... ;)

Same board with F7 BIOS and a A10-7850K, using a Nvidia GTX card and i CANNOT disable the IGPU, if i do it in BIOS then my screen is all black. Any news on this? Or help please.

Update on this so in the future if someone else stumbles on this issue.
I updated to F8 BIOS, took a jumper from an old DVD drive and cleared the CMOS for 10 seconds. Restarted and made my BIOS settings as Before but this time the IGPU was disabled when isung a dedicated Graphics card :D
So BIOS F8 fixed the problem with a new A10-7850K!
