Hi, I'm pretty green when it comes to building PC's and recently I've been keen on building a budget gaming rig! I recently came into the possession of a GA-970A-DS3 mobo which supports FX series processors and 970 chipsets (great!!). I'm pretty dedicated on getting the FX6300 but noticed before ordering that my mobo rev which is 1.1 doesn't come with the 'F6' BIOS update pre installed but instead comes with 'F3'...My question really boils down to - would I be able to run the FX 6300 on my current motherboard rev? I know I could flash the BIOS to 'F6' but I'd prefer to just be able to do everything out of the box ???

you will need a compatible CPU to flash it with before you can use that chip.
