Hi all. I have just gotten a new x79-ud5 mobo. And after been told by both gigabyte that the x79 chip set supports port multipliers, then trying it, and it not working and ringing them both back to be told that it dosent (thanks guys, because I needed the usless waste of money) I have had to use the old pcie - sata cards that were in the old system, and it turns out that the cards in the bottom 3 pcie slots only 1 is working. I have rotated the cards around and they all work. It seems that the ports are not working. The cards are not even detected at a BIOS level. Any help?
Cheers

Could you be more clear on what you are trying to install. Is it video cards or Sata SSD that are for the PCIe slots?
In the bios under Bios Features try and change this to Legacy.
PCI ROM Priority
Allows you to determine which Option ROM to launch. Options are Legacy ROM and EFI Compatible ROM.
(Default: EFI Compatible ROM)

Am trying to get my 3 sata pcie cards working. They are pcie1x and i have tried all the slots, but can only get them to work in the pcie 1x slots. They should work in all of thwm. They used to on my x58-ud5. Is there a bios option for this? I have tried changing the pci boot rom. But still no go.

Have you tried one at a time? Once that one is working than install another one with that one and so on.
Till you have them all working. The cards are they for more drives to be connect ?

yes i have. i have tried them in all the slots, and tried to move my graphics card to another. i can get 2 out of 3 to work, but only in the PCIE-1x slots. but i need the third to work aswell. in my older x58-ud5, i had all 3 plugged into pcie 16x slots, and they worked perfectly.
so i dont know why they wont on this board.
ideas?
cheers
