Post by: inmate39 on March 26, 2014, 02:03:14 am
hi all, on my mb I have an ssd drive, a 3770 cpu, and 2 x blu-ray writers. I had 1 x 2tb and 1 x 3tb hdd's. but now im having a swap around with another comp which im selling, but im having hassle with the following. im swapping the 2tb hdd for a 3tb hdd, and im trying to instal another 3tb hdd too. giving me 3 x 3tb hdd's and 2 x bd rewriters, and an ssd drive, with a new 3770k cpu. im lost as to which of the many sata sockets to use. can anyone please advise me on this. I have 32gb of xmp ram and a gtx690 to put a great spread on my 51" plasma on the wall. I am severely disabled and I have to get a friend in to do the work, but I forget things. thank you for your time. paul.

I would put the SSD on the white sata ports. Put the Blue-ray's on the sata black ports. Than put all the Hard Drives On the Marvell gray sata ports.

Intel white ports: SSD
2 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors (SATA3 0~1) supporting up to 2 SATA 6Gb/s devices

Intel black ports: Blue-ray's
4 x SATA 3Gb/s connectors (SATA2 2~5) supporting up to 4 SATA 3Gb/s devices

Marvell Gray Ports: Hard drives
4 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors (GSATA3 6~9) supporting up to 4 SATA 6Gb/s devices

Plus set all sata ports Intel & Marvell to AHCI too.
