Title: GA-790XTA-UD4. E-SATA ready?
Post by: mbdude on March 03, 2010, 10:17:15 pm
I need to know if this mobo have the internal E-SATA connector required to use the E-SATA port available in the front panel of some ATX cases or, on the contrary, the only E-SATA port is at the back panel of the mobo.
In other words, oes it just consist of putting a regular SATA cable from the ATX case to any SATA port in the mobo?
I'm asking because I didn't find E-SATA in the list of internal connectors in the mobo manual, just at the rear panel.

Thanks

Hi there, This board does not have internal e-sata connector(s) just the 2 e-sata connectors on the back.
Hope this helps!

There are a couple but they seem to be for Intel i7 CPU rather than AMD

so then, doesn't it work attaching a regular SATA cable from one of the many SATA ports of the mobo to the ATX case front panel?

Not tried it myself but if you set bios to AHCI mode when you first set-up it should be OK. However you will need to make sure your HDD,  attached to the e-sata port, is powered up before you boot as there is sometimes an issue with e-sata not recognising disks that are plugged in once the system is up and running.
