Title: HELP... black screen after bios update 990fxa-ud3

I just tried updating the bios on my MB.  i used the @bios thinking that surely the software that GIGABYTE ships with their MBs would be ideal for the task.

I selected my MB model number from the @bios selection. there was only one to pick from and it was correct. (990fxa-ud3)

After the install I rebooted.  now windows 7 won't boot.  i just get a black screen with a blinking cursor.  i can't even use my windows restore disc.  when i try to update the bios manually by installing the latest version onto a flash drive and using q-flash, i get the "incorrect file size!!" nonsense.

any help would be appreciated.

Never use @flash unless it is required.
Use the Q-Flash method to avoid issues.

@bios ignores checksums ,so a wrong BIOS may be flashed.Strangely enough my modded BIOS-es flashed thru @bios were always overwritten from the back-up chip .:)
Nevertheless you may be able to force the back up BIOS kick in.Research the forum for the procedure.

Generally speaking DO NOT update BIOS if the system works ,BIOS is not a driver.

understood.   is there a way to fix this or do i need to buy another MB?

Disconnect the board from the power supply remove the battery and let it on Clear CMOS for a day.Then reinstall it and try to boot again ,maybe the back up BIOS wakes-up and kicks in.
Somewhere on the forum there is specified a method on how to force the back-up BIOS to kick in.

If that doesn t work after this stpes RMA the board , if still possible ,if not go to a PC shop and ask for help ,it should not be expensive to recover the BIOS.Anyway much cheaper than buying another mobo.

I wish these motherboard would tell people shut down the computer. Clear the cmos and pull the battery after a update.

Then unclear the cmos put the battery back in and go into the bios and set it to the default setting. Reboot go back in and setup your bios.

If you updated the bios and you don't that it will not know what to do the next time it boots.
