Title: GA-Z87MX-D3H No LAN Device
Post by: clk on April 21, 2014, 03:38:01 am
MOBO: GA-Z87MX-D3H (1.x) BIOS Ver: F6
Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz (Haswell)
AMD FirePro V4900 PCIe x16 graphics card
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Win 8.1 64-bit

This is a new build. Windows 8.1 installed with no problems but cannot detect the on-board LAN controller. PCH LAN Controller is enabled in BIOS. After booting into Windows, I tried installing drivers from the Gigabyte MOBO CD, but get the following error message when installing the Inter(R) HECI Device Driver:

"This computer does not meet  the minimum requirements for installing the software."

I tried resetting BIOS to Load Optimized Defaults. I have also booted to a Linux Live CD, but Linux doesn't see the LAN controller either.

I also tried installing a separate PCIe 1x ethernet card (ST Lab N-313) and disabling the PCH LAN Controller on the MOBO in the BIOS, but neither Windows nor Linux see this device either.

I don't know what else to try... Any suggestions?

If PCH LAN Controller is enabled in BIOS under Peripherals

and you have no NIC in Device Manager (windows)

and no ETH0 in Linux (Ubuntu Live CD)

I'd say that board is defective.  You can bench test it outside of the case to be sure, but you'll likely be returning it to the vendor for testing, return or RMA.
