Title: GA-X79-UD5 rev 1.0 new build boot loop..
Post by: lcdlo on April 25, 2014, 08:20:16 am
Hi there.

I just made a new build and it wont boot at all. It just goes on and off with 5 seconds interval.

Parts:

Ga-x79-ud5 rev 1.0 mb
4820k
4x2 gb g.skill ripjaws 1600mhz 1.5v
gtx 770
2 x kingston ssd:s
700w ocz modstream psu

have tried so far:

Took the mb out from the case.
Tried with 1,2,3,4 mem sticks.
Tried with hd 3450,hd 3650,hd 7850 and gtx 770 gfx cards

Reseated everything. Looked that there aint  anything wrong with the processor socket pins, those are fine.

Tested that all parts work fine with other mb and processor.
Removed the bios battery for 3 hours..

No help.

The mb itself and the 4820k is the parts wich ones i can“t test right now.

Im just wondering could there be any tricks to try before sending back the prosessor and the mb?

(could it really be the ocz psu? Its working fine with other two setups.)

It could be the bios needs to be updated.

Thanks for your answer.

That could be the reason.
But in this condition i need a 3820 or 3930
Prosessor, if mb has f7, or f8... bios.

Is that kind of looping known behavior with these mb's when bios doestn't support the cpu?

Never had that kind of problem before. :-(

So when you say it is looping it comes on and shut down then comes back on right? The first thing it will check for is the CPU.
