hi, noob here. i bought my mobo and havent been able to use it, i would like to confirm if its compatible with 4790k devils c?anyon? do i need to update the bios?

if i use a more cheaper haswell pentium proc then upgrade the bios with that. would that work? what version of bios would i need to run devils canyon?

Sorry I got the wrong board mine is Z87-DS3H.
The changes are provided along with the f/w from the download page.
Edit; just checked it out and it is F6 you require.

havent tried booting up the system, i still dont have a processor. what to do next? where to check for bios version w/out booting?

is it adviseable to get a cheaper pentium haswell to upgrade the bios first or can i go directly to dc 4790k?

If your system will start using the Devils Canyon then you can just upgrade the BIOS to get the full support for the CPU.
If it won't start up then using a cheaper CPU to update the BIOS first is often the quickest way to go.

Oh, by the way, if the PC won't start when using the Devils Canyon CPU don't worry, you will not do any harm to the motherboard or the CPU but you will probably get a lot of beeps from the motherboard speaker if you have one attached!
