Title: SATA III hdd for GA-MA790GPT-UD3H
Post by: eisenstadt on August 18, 2014, 01:01:11 pm
I want to install a WD Green label 1TB hard drive on a GA-MA790GPT-UD3H basically for storage with the WD 80GB HDD currently installed as the boot drive. I read that SATA III hard drives are backwardly compatible with SATA II motherboards with reduced transfer speed. Do I need a SATA III controller card or can I just use the motherboard's SATA II controller? If I need a card, which do you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help.

As long as you are fine with a bit slower speeds you can use your motherboard controller.
