I got this comp on Friday, just past, installed Windows 7 ultimate and everything seemed great. I installed coolnovo(web browser) and then it completely shudown. After several attempts at fixing it, I just figured that my W7 was corrupted or damaged, so I went out and purchased Windows 8.1. Everything was working and then this morning, it shutdown again. Seething, I started it and was told that it was a bios failure and that I needed to put in the W8.1 disk and basically, reinstalled it.
I started working on the comp today and it shutdown again.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this? I am extremely frustrated here.
BIOS version F2, date of bios 7/15/2013 and the ID is 8a02bg10
Flash type size is MXIC 25L3206E 4MB.

I looked at the event viewer and it showed me the Kernel Power 41 error. Too bad that it doesn't tell you what caused it.

I installed Core Temp to monitor the temp.
On the case, there is suppose to be a fan, located in the front, near the bottom. I don't think it was ever on as it has lights on it and they've never been on. I tried one of the buttons and it came on, so I started the computer. So far so good.
Does anyone think that that could have been the issue?

...but until someone more knowledgeable comes along trouble-shooting is trouble-shooting:
- What's the make & model of the CPU cooler?
- Are you over-clocking anything?
- Did you assemble this PC yourself? (Nothing shorting out the m/b? Proper application of thermal grease? All buttons and LEDs plugged in at the correct polarity etc?)
- Have you tried a process-of-elimination (ie disconnecting all non-essential hardware then testing the PC for a day or so before reintroducing components one-at-a-time. I'd start with the multi-card reader)?
Just with the CPU and the GPU alone it appears that you've got 350 Watts draw on a 600 Watt power supply:

Others more knowledgeable than I may claim this is sufficient but when it come to P/S units I prefer the belt & suspenders approach.
But before you spend more money please try some further trouble-shooting.

Thanks for your reply. I took it back to the builder and it was the power supply. I hadn't considered that because it's a new machine. They felt bad and gave me a better power supply at no cost. Well, no cost to me.
