This has been running fine for quite a few months and recently under load it will reboot without notice. I can get it to reboot everytime if I try to backup my dvd movies using handbrake. I ran memtest for 16 hours with no errors, stresstest for many hours without errors as well. I loaded linux fresh on a newly formatted drive and it fails right away. I did back up over 130 dvds fine but any now fail with a reboot. I have had reboots just browsing the web. The only error messages I see in any logs are:

I don't know what the cause is and need help figuring it out. Any ideas?

What Linux distro ,what kernel version?!
-
Any linux distro. I have 4 loaded and I can get all to fail. My current distro is Zorin 9. 3.13.0-37-generic is the kernel version.

Please install OpenSuse 13.1 and report back.Used it on some AMD rigs with no serious issues.
Otherwise take a look at the power supply and RAM ,get them checked.

Ok, it was failing all the time until I got some updates for my zorin install. now it is working without fail. So maybe it was something software? odd that it failed in 4 different flavors of linux but maybe it is something commonly used between them all? I ran memtest86+ for 16 hours without any errors.

Your system could be overheating under load.
Which revision do you have? None of them have a heat sink on the VRM.

What's the make & model # of your CPU cooler?
Did you install it yourself? If so, how long ago and how much thermal grease did you use?
Are the system fans revving up to high RPMs when you use handbrake for extended periods of time?
How are the system temperatures?
Is the case you're using well ventilated?

Ever since the updates to linux applied, I have had no more problems. The board revision is 5.1. the cpu cooler came with the fx6300 cpu. Th part number for the cpu and cooler is FD6300WMHBOX. The fans will rev up when under load but stay at the same level. It doesn't rev higher under extended use. I did install it myself and just have a thin film on the cpu. the cpu temp highest level I saw was 54c but under heavy load, it stays around 48/49c. idle is it below 20c. the case is well ventilated. I will read that link you sent and thanks!

It now works? Good. :)
