Title: Combatible ram and gpu for X58-UD5 mobo

Hello,i planning to upgrade my pc and i would like to ask if i can put 16gb ram kit(4x4)to my motherboard and a gtx980gpu card,(if pci express 2.0 slots can handle it)
X58-UD5(rev-1)
Windows 7 ultimate
i7 960 stock clocks
If so,i'll would appreciate any recommendations.Thanks

I would say it is a 50/50 chance it might not work. People have got 3.0 card to work. But you are going to buy that really nice card and not get the full performance out it.

The other thing "memory" the board only supports DDR3 2100-OC/1333/1066/800. Yes you can run 16gb of memory with 4 sticks too. Just make sure you put them in the right slots.

Dual Channel: 2-1-4-3
3 Channel 2-1-3-5

I'm not telling you not to buy the card. But if it was me I would think about upgrading the MB, CPU, & Memory first.

Thanks for the answer,obviously a motherboard/prossesor upgrade path is the best way to do,but if the gtx980 could work propertly with my current sep up,its more than enough for me right now

Might have to make sure your Bios is fully updated. On older boards like that a new card sometimes isn't seen for what it is and has problems. That is why dmdilks suggested a Motherboard and CPU upgrade.
