Title: Amd Athlon, GIGABYTE motherboard, and no GPU works
Post by: mariuszp on February 19, 2015, 06:35:25 pm
Hello, I've got a Gigabyte GA-F2A88X-D3H, with an AMD  Athlon x4 860K CPU, and I've tried 2 different nVidia GPUs - one of them being GTX 760, and another one so old I don't know the model, but PCI-Express. Whichever one I plug in, the monitor is not working (although on the new one, the fans were spinning; the old one has no fans, so nothing to indicate whether it worked). It seems unlikely that 2 different GPUs are not working, and this CPU is not an APU, and obviously there are no onboard graphics, but I've heard it might be necessary to switch the graphics output manually in the BIOS. Is this true? If so, how can I achieve it since I cannot use the screen.

Sorry if this is not the correct section of the forum, but it seems like this one is the most compatible with the question.

(EDIT: The old GPU definitely works, tested in another PC)
Any help?

I building a computer for repair shop the other day. I had the same problem. I know it it isn't the same board ASRock FM2A55M-HD+ FM2+ / FM2 AMD A55 (Hudson D2). I was using a X4-760k.

It turn out to be the PSU for me. For some reason the board didn't like that PSU. I have had that PSU on other boards with no problems.
