Title: Gigabyte Z97x Udh5 slow boot
Post by: Elseif1989 on May 18, 2015, 11:02:56 pm
Hi,

I've recently purchased a Z97x Udh5 motherboard, an intel 4790k processor, corsair cm750x psu, 16GB kingston HyperfuryX and a corsair H110i..

When I press start It takes about 20-25 seconds before it even shows me the gygabyte logo on the screen.. He stays 'stuck' at code 64.. as soon as it gets past that it all works fine but it boots slower than my 7 year old rig -.-

I tried removing the ram, replacing the ram, and even removed the GPU no luck and I'm out of ideas..

Sincerely

according to a search of this problem here are a few things to try.
1.I had my CPU cooler screwed on too tight. I unscrewed each screw on my cooler by about 1/2 turn, then booted again--worked first time.
2. Error 64, from the boards manual, is: CPU DXE initialization (CPU module specific). update bios, make sure CPU is installed properly.

3.  remove the front panel USB 2.0 header connectors and see if that stops. if not remove 1 USB device at a time!

the 64 may be related to the USB hot plug issue and its stopping the CPU to hold the post till it leaves the USB and skips it.

Thanks for the response! My issue seems to be resolved. I unplugged both of the Usb headers and it went straight through like it's supposed to! :)

now what you need to do is plug one in at a time to see which one is doing it. Maybe move them to different USB headers.

Glad it worked for you.
