Title: Z97x gaming 5 M.2 PCI-E 3.0 (x4)
Post by: Webb234 on June 06, 2015, 09:32:42 pm
Does anybody know if this motherboards M.2 slot is PCI-E 3.0 (x4) or not as some motherboards only support SATA 6Gbps speeds or PCI-e x 2 lanes as I want to use a Samsung SM951 256GB ssd for a boot drive and get full speed

You'll need to use a PCIe x4 adapter in a PCIe x16 slot to get x4 speeds off that board.  The onboard M.2 header on support x2 lanes.

For Gigabyte boards, those labels with "Turbo M.2 for 20Gb/s" are x4 lanes.  All others are x2 lanes.
