Title: GA-990FXA-UD3 rev 4.0 No Sound
Post by: LouPe on July 21, 2015, 11:00:47 pm
Win7 HP 64 bit SP1 with latest updates. New build. Everything seems to work OK except I have no sound. Device Manager says I have the latest drivers and devices are working. Speakers, Logitec plugged into light green stereo socket on MB, work on old computer. Not sure what to check next.

Your Realtek is somewhat outdated - get the current R279 driver which will bring you up to 6.0.1.7541
not sure what for you need the AMD Audio? (using Radeon card sound?)

no need if you use the mobo green audio plug. Try turning up volume a good bit more maybe it helps? .. and unmute everything

The Dolby driver is here for download - you can install it over the Realtek and it should work nicely

Greetings LouPe,

Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab

What device has a green checkmark?  Right-click speakers and select Set as Default Device.  Do you now have sound?

shadowsports: tried that but no luck.

AgentFXA: Dolby drivers did the trick!

The other drivers were installed from the MB DVD. I just installed everything but the Google stuff. Guess I know just enough to be dangerous. ;)

Thanks for all the help!

Just don't install the dolby driver itself - keep the Realtek driver and install the "Dolby Home Theater v4.msi"  over the Realtek - that's it for blasting sound!
