Title: Having trouble with I7-2700K, power cycles on and off
Post by: electronicsfreak on July 26, 2015, 05:22:26 pm
I am running a Gigabyte Z68xp-ud3 motherboard, and recently bought I7-2700K off ebay to upgrade as I have been running an I3.  The i3 runs fine, but when I put in the I7, the board turns on and off repeatedly.  Thinking I might have gotten a bad processor but thought id check on here.  And yes the board is updated to the newest bios revision I could find, F10.

My computer specs are as follow

Gigabyte Z68xp-ud3 motherboard
Intel I3-2120 processor
Evga 780TI Classified video card
16GB Gskill 1066 memory
Rosewill 950 watt 80 amp power supply

Anything else you need, let me know.  Thanks

More likely you got a bad CPU. If you take out the CPU and run it without a CPU in it. The board should do the same thing. So what I'm saying is the board doesn't see the CPU.
