MB's: GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (rev. 1.0)' and the 'GA-Z170X-Gaming G1 (rev. 1.0) are the only Gigabyte motherboards using the MegaChip LSPCON MCDP2800. Perhaps that means the boards are HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 capable. But a note in the spec says, "HDMI feature is currently limited. Visit GIGABYTE website for future updates."
Do we know what that means?
Is it a case of buying the motherboard now but getting a firmware upgrade later? Maybe it has HDMI 1.4 now.

Only guessing.
Might have to do with max refresh rates (HDMI output) on 4k displays.

or maybe
That only 512mb of shared memory can be allocated for use with onboard graphics.
Based on this:
*Maximum shared memory of 512 MB
DVMT Pre-Allocated
Allows you to set the onboard graphics memory size. Options are: 32M~512M. (Default: 64M)
DVMT Total Gfx Mem
Allows you to allocate the DVMT memory size of the onboard graphics. Options are: 128M, 256M, MAX.
(Default: 256M)
Good question. I couldn't find anything on it. Might have to ask Gigabyte directly.

Thanks! I'll attempt to contact Gigabyte. I'd like to purchase the MB if "currently limited" means the limitation will be removed in the not-to-distant future.

Great if you can post back with their answer. I'm sure others will have the same question. I looked one of at Asus's Z170 boards and didn't see a MCDP2800 chip for HDMI support. Appears to be specific to Gigabyte.

On August 5, I submitted a ticket with Gigabyte asking, "Do any or all of the Gigabyte Z170 motherboards support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 ?" . I received this reply, "Answer: The ticket is being processed."
So, there is still a chance a reply is forthcoming.
Today at http://www.anandtech.com/show/9485/intel-skylake-z170-motherboards-asrock-asus-gigabyte-msi-ecs-evga-supermicro/9 , regarding the Gigabyte Gaming G1 MB, it's stated, : "We can confirm that HDMI 2.0 is via a separate LS-PCon, although it will need a future firmware update before it can be used." So, perhaps, that is the temporary limitation referred to on the Gigabyte site.
