Title: Z87-d3hp + 4670k Intel cpu beeping
Post by: BTNGaming on September 25, 2015, 05:43:43 pm
My computer has been running pretty good for about a year and a half, and I decided to upgrade from 8gb of RAM to 16 (4x4gb 1866mhz)

It started beeping on me so I upgraded to the F 7 BIOS update, and it continued to be so I went back to 8gb. It still continues to be so I unplug every piece of hardware from the motherboard and it is still beeping.

Is there any solution to this problem or am I stuck with a bricked motherboard, I need to get this running as soon as possible as I live stream daily

Greetings,
A contant beeping at startup can have more than one cause.  If the system still starts and runs, I'd look at my keyboard.  If this doesn't help, check all of your connections, devices, inside and outside of the case.  Reseat the memory, or any connection you might bumped or jarred loose.

Perform a CLR_CMOS and set your BIOS up again.

If it's not POSTing at all, its related to RAM.

What not to do (for future):

Don't flash your BIOS when you are in a error condition or unstable state.  This can cause further problems or mask an issue.

Perform a CLR_CMOS and set your BIOS up again.

How do I do that? I have EVERYTHING unplugged from mobo and still beeping

Probably memory related.  Refer to your manual for location of CLR_CMOS jumper...  or just pull the battery.  Turn off or disconnect the PSU first.

Tried pulling the battery and removing all new memory, added 1 4gb from old memory, same conflicting issue.

Also, I built this nearly 2 yrs ago, never had an issue until last night

While the possibility of hardware failure always exists, I would suspect RAM since this is what you changed and then starting having issues.  I assume your were careful when installing, disconnected power first, got everything seated properly.

Gigabytes KB states a 90sec battery pull is sufficient for CLR_MOS, although many users do it for longer.  Without power connected, a few minutes should suffice.

Did you disconnect from power before performing the battery pull?
Does the system POST and run?  (but constant beeping)
Are all your FAN's connected and spinning
Confirm all connections

I built this system from scratch, power is always unplugged and static free before I touch it. Cleaned every 2 weeks from dust etc. Fans are spinning properly but it beeps then shuts off and turns back on after about 15 seconds. With no memory plugged in. Left battery and power out for 30 minutes and no change

Does it POST, can you get to BIOS?

If yes, I would try re-syncing the primary/secondary BIOS.  This will be ALT+F10 or ALT+F12

You can also try to invoke boot from the back up BIOS using the following:

1. Shut off the power supply using the switch on the back of the PSU, wait 10-15 seconds.
 2. Press and hold the case Power On switch, then while still holding turn on the power supply from the switch on the rear.
 3. Still holding the case power on switch, the board will start, once it does release the case power on switch and shut off the power supply via the switch on the read of the unit. (Do the latter two parts as quickly as you can once the board starts)
 4. The board will shut down.
 5. Turn the power supply back on using the switch on the rear of the unit.
 6. Turn on the motherboard by pressing the case power on button.

If the above doesn't help, I would try to re-flash the BIOS again using QFlash if possible, or USB.  @BIOS is not reliable (or very safe) and of course useless if you can't get to windows.

I can't even get to bios screen or qflash. Solid black screen full time til it force reboots. :/

And attempting to invoke the back up BIOS?

Same issue, still beeping...

Fought it awhile, cleared cmos, got f7 update on bios properly. Will still only accept 2dimm of the 4?
