Title: Cant boot with 8gb ram stick

I was trying to upgrade my rig by adding more memory so i purchased 2*8gb ddr3 ram sticks but the system cant boot and when i power it up i hear fast short beeps.
motherboard gigabyte ep45t-ud3lr
cpu intel quad core Q940

Your board will not support 8-gb sticks. Try and trade them for 4-gb sticks.

Good thing the retailer offered to trade them if they didn't work . thanks.
