I have 525 media dashboard (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/SDFC-Multifuntion-5-25-Media-Dashboard-Card-Reader-USB-2-0-USB-3-0-20-pin/32559951826.html?spm=2114.01020208.8.30.jWZZ9L) connected to inside USB2 connector.
The chip inside is FE2.1 USB 2.0 HUB LD3F336A3175. User manual says that no drivers are needed but my computer show information that drivers are missing and neither USB2 ports or card reader is working. My system is Windows 7 x64 enterprise, motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z170x-gaming3. Windows update also didn't find anything. I wonder what are specifications of the internal usb2 connectors? May be there is not enough power for this dashboard? Any help is welcome!

If you plug in the USB cable from the case does that work. A lot of those devices like the one you got are cheaply made and it could the USB ports are bad.
USB Support
Disabled All USB devices are disabled before the OS boot process completes.
Full Initial All USB devices are functional in the operating system and during the POST.
Partial Initial Part of the USB devices are disabled before the OS boot process completes. (Default)
This item is configurable only when Fast Boot is set to Enabled. This function is disabled when Fast Boot is set to Ultra Fast.

It seems you are right, if I plug in the USB cable from the case I get USB devices has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it. Another thing occur today: I want to transfer some video files from my panasonic sd99 camcoder connected to usb2 back port, the camcoder wasn't recognized then the driver talent found Mats***a sd99/sd usb device but after install driver nothing happens - no new drive icon or autoplay function.
I don't know what is going on but until I have this Gigabyte mobo problems occurs one after another, I will join hafexo from another post and also never buy a gigabyte product again !!

Yes the Z170 series has had it's problems. I have been with Gigabyte from the old Abit days. I have the same board I use for testing. I do have a card reader that does plugs into the USB port on the board.
I will test it to see if I have problems. Plus if that card reader/ USb device is malfunctioning it will cause problem across the board.
