Title: GA Z170x UD5 dual ethernet ports not working at the same time
Post by: rafdesign on January 11, 2016, 05:25:31 pm
Hi, I am a total new PC user, I was a Mac user for over 20 years.
So I build a new PC around the motherboard Z170x UD5. I built it, installed Windows 10 and everything is working. I use one Ethernet port to connect to the internet and it's working fine. Now if I try to use the second ethernet port to connect a Synology NAS (DS411 model) it doesn't connect. I have to unplug the first ethernet port (internet) and plug the NAS.
I am unable to use both ethernet ports. Is it normal? Do I have to do something deeper, like updating the motherboard? I have no idea to do that, or no idea if it's a problem related to windows 10.
Thanks in advance for any help (I'm a newby!).

You have to use software to do that like this.

It's not so much that you need software, its just that managing two internet connections is typically a server's job.  An OS geared towards server applications (e.g. Windows Server 2012 R2) would be able to manage both connections without external software (via RRAS.)
