Title: Gigabyte Z170 GT - How to boot from DVD??
Post by: l003sgh on February 11, 2016, 04:56:35 am
Help! Just got my new system built and I am trying to boot the Windows 10 disk from the DVD, but I cannot get the motherboard to recognize the DVD drive in the boot list. The only option listed in the BIOS setting for a boot drive is my Samsung 950 Pro in the m.2 slot. I have the DVD drive plugged into the SATA3_0 port. What do I need to do to be able to load windows from the DVD?  When I look at the SATA configuration in the BIOS it does not show anything detected on the SATA3_0 port.  The only Things plugged in are the 950 Pro in the m.2 slot and the DVD drive.

Have you tried to plug it in like port 6 or 7. If it does show up in those ports. Have the windows disk in the drive. Set the bios to boot from the UEFI DVD and on the "other OS" set that to windows 8/10. Plus make sure you have any thing plug in just right too.
