Hello good people.
I am about to order parts for a new build based on the above motherboard, plus the i7-6700K.
Does anyone own one, and if so, are there any problems you came across when building and booting up for the first time ?
Why the G1 ?
Because my current 'flagship' motherboard is the GA-EX58-Extreme, which has served me well since I built the PC back in November 2008, so it will be 8 years old this year. :)
No, you cannot talk me into getting an Asus board. :)
Many thanks.

Biggest issues has been with using RAM Above 2133Mhz, and some m.2 installs and Drive detection.

Love that one :P
I have a Ga-Z170X-Gaming 3 board and did have some problem with memory. But I put in 2133 everything has run great. Stay with what the CPU will support 2133. Plus I have a EVGA X99 board and it doesn't like some M.2 drives too. So it isn't just Gigabyte.

Thank you chaps, that has given me a bit of insight.
As for the memory, I have on my list some Corsair Dominator Platinum "Champion" 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 3400MHz Quad Channel Kit.
In theory the board should support from 2133 - 3866Mhz speeds, so maybe I should drop down to the lowest speed as it seems to work ok ?
Luckily my X58 PC runs just fine, so I can use that if I need to return parts and get different ones.
But, I am hoping that all will go well as I am hoping to place my order in the next day or two.
The last time I built my PC was back in November 2008 based on the Gigabyte 'Flagship' GA-EX58-Extreme board, which was also expensive, and to me it was a wise decision, as so far since then the only changes have been to the Corsair HX1000 for a HX1050. The PSU died after about 3 years and that was the replacment.
I bought two Gigabyte AMD 4870X2's by mistake, but didn't have the heart to send one back, and one of them died after a few years too, and the RMA sent me a Gigabyte 6870OC replacement. So bought another one for CF.
I kept the buying of two 4870X2's very quiet from the wife.....:)
But I have the itch for a new build, and the Z170X G1 gaming board really wants me to give it a home....:)

You really are not going to a speed boost for the faster memory. Plus with more memory isn't really not any better either. Stay with the 16gb. Yes if you are doing picture or video editing then more memory is better.
To me faster or more memory is more bragging right then anything. Yes I do have 32gb of 2400 memory in my X99, but I got it a very good price from a person that does reviews.

Thanks for the info.
Researching for a new build is quite taxing, especially being some 8 years out of touch, so all advice is very welcome, and I can save a few quid at the same time. :)

Most seem to use pc parts picker now. http://pcpartpicker.com/ Great for research
Old folks used price watch http://www.pricewatch.com/ back in the day 8)

Ah, old folks, I know about them as I am a 70 year old one.... :(
I will give 'part picker' a go, as I still have a few days before making a final decision and hit the 'buy' button. 8)
