Title: Recently purchased Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 from Amazon.....
Post by: azmothman on April 25, 2016, 01:45:21 am
Recently I purchased a new Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 from Amazon.

After receiving the box I immediately noticed that the Gigabyte box was not sealed and after flipping it open I noticed that the anti-static bag containing the motherboard was sealed ONLY with a piece of tape.

Basically I just wanted to see if this is normal for Gigabyte products before contacting Amazon and requesting a different motherboard as I do not want to buy a used motherboard.

Thank you!

That is about right the box is not seal and yes they only use a piece of tape. You should be fine, but if it has the latest bios then maybe somebody else has used it. All you can do it try it.

I buy all my electronics from Amazon with the exception of motherboards, because of their hassle free return policy.  I normally buy my MB's from a retailer so I can see/control what board rev I am getting. If there is only one version, I use Amazon.  Gig boards do come with a single piece of tape like dmdilks mentions.  Box is not sealed.

Amazon doesn't sell used equipment.  Always select ships from and sold by Amazon, LLC.   If you bought from a 3rd party in their marketplace, you are taking a risk.  The equipment I've purchased directly from Amazon has always been new, and you can't beat their return policy.   ;)
