Title: GTX 1080 G1 Gaming fan's constantly running 90% to full speed
Post by: MacD on June 10, 2016, 09:03:36 pm
Today I bought a GTX 1080 G1 Gaming.

From the first get go the fan's start spinning at full speed.
This starts the minute you start the PC (so even before BIOS is fineshed) , when Windows desktop is loaded the fan speed drop a little bit, to 90% and when you shut down the PC it goes up again to 100%.
The fan never go to idle.

Yes, this is solvable with a custom fan speed map, not the point.

It's just : I don't think this is a normal responds the fan's are suppose to do, run at a constant 90% + speed.
(Especially for a brand new 830 buck videocard, you might expect the thing to be in perfect order)

Second thing is : MSI afterburner shows some weird GPU tempratures when the videocard is doing nothing : the GPU is just 5 degrees (this seems dead wrong)

Can anyone tell me what's wrong here and how it can be fixed ?

There is a known issue with the fan speed - wait for the driver update

Sorry no solution, but I have the exact same issue and that new nvidia driver was already released and does not fix it.

Looks like Gigabyte haa a new bios that fixes this, just downloaded and seems to be working so far.
