Title: Ga-x79-ud5 freezes on bios splash
Post by: Darkneopulse on July 21, 2016, 03:44:03 am
Hello,
Parts list:
Gigabyte x79-ud5
Intel i7-3820k
Amd R9 fury
Amd something old, unsure of model #
Kingston 120gb ssd (disconnected)
Wd 2tb hdd (disconnected)
Corsair he 650w gold semi-modular PSU

Recently upgraded to x79 from a friend and all was fine until a couple of random BSOD's, I decided to restore defaults instead of lowering my mild over lock to see if that was the issue, after my computer rebooted I couldn't get any output from my gpu at all. I've now borrowed a very old gpu from a friend that does display but I cannot get further than the bios splash screen, I cannot enter the bios with or without all peripherals and hard drives connected, neither use or ps/2 keyboard works
I am unsure of the bios version, I Know it still has the 3d bios, I think it was f10 bios revision but I am unable to check
I've already attempted:
Switching to the second bios
Clearing the CMOS and removing the battery overnight
Reseating literally every cable
Any help is greatly appreciated  :)

Did you try reseating the memory and just one stick too?

Have you try to move the video card to another slot?

Yep, get output in all pcie slots but the bios screen is zoomed out really far compared to usual, there's black borders that take up close to 50% of the screen, not sure if thats because its a different gpu or the bios is freaking out though

Have tried all the memory configurations from the book. I still think is has something to do with memory. I have had memory do that many times give you a bios screen but didn't do anything else.

If that doesn't work I don't know what to say. You have tried everything that could be tried. Other than even another video card.
