It seems to be impossible to get wakeup by alarm (rtc) working. With my old motherboard of 6 years old I did not have any problem with it, but the Gigabyte ga-h110m-s2h seems to be to complicated. According to Gigabyte it should work with the latest firmware. I tried the instructions on the following site: https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ACPI_Wakeup
Please help!

I realized that I'm not completely correct about the issue. It points out that the motherboard is capable of wakeup by alarm, because when I enter specific time in the BIOS the computer is started at that time.
The issue is that the bios does not accept an alarm time from the operating system! Gigabyte stated that the wakeup by alarm function is working, but is this tested with an alarm time initiated from the operating system?

No, this statement is operating system agnostic. They are referring to wake on alarm/event set in the BIOS. They don't test it from the OS. No MB manufacturer tests it this way that I'm aware of.
Also note, Linux is not officially supported. While it can be installed and does run, drivers etc, have to be downloaded and installed from the chipset vendor directly. Obviously some distros may work better/differently than others. I know this is a basic function and simple commands (lines of code). A different BIOS might help, but there is no guarantee of this.

Odd that the board is not tested fully, now I regret the choice for this particular board. Multimedia systems in combination with Linux (TVHeadend / Kodi) are shown more often I think.
