Title: Help with RAM Speeds on the Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
Post by: Endda on September 13, 2016, 05:10:42 pm
Okay, so I got the  GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 motherboard and looked at the supported RAM list to find a compatible brand. Through the list I picked out these chips

CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Desktop Memory Model CMK32GX4M2B3000C15

Now, it's to my understanding that this could have the DRAM Frequency of 3000MHz when overclocked properly, but I can only get it to show 1500MHZ on CPU-Z

And I had to enable profile 1 of XMP in the BIOS in order to get it to use the right timings (15/17/17/35) and 1.35v that I saw on the Gigabyte supported RAM page for this motherboard.

I am clueless when it comes to the BIOS page for this motherboard (this is the first Gigabyte mobo I've owned), so I'm confused as to how I can get this setup properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (and yes, I'm on the F8/latest firmware)

that's correct  ddr stands for double date rate , so double 1500 = 3000  ,,  that how it works , im sure most know this .

Thumbs up Jason-UK  8)

Ennda, what processor are you running?  you've got 3002.2 Mhz running at stock speed using the XMP_1 Profile.  Fantastic!  Now we your confirmation the 3000 Mhz LPX memory on the QVL is "friendly" for Z170 based boards.
