Title: Gigabyte X58 USB3 RAM issue
Post by: abedfo on October 31, 2016, 11:59:19 am
Hi there,

have an x58 usb3 on the latest beta bios (5fc ??? i think) running a Xeon x5650 no issues.

However, i have 8gb ram running dual channel. At the moment they are in DIMM slots 1 and 5. If i insert the sticks into DIMM 1 and 3 i only get 4gb showing as active on the bios screen. The strange thing is that the RAM is shown in the 3rd DIMM slot but isn't available.

I have tried running triple channel in 1,3 and 5 but same issue RAM in 3rd slot isn't available.

Another side note is that when trying to boot into windows with a stick in slot 3 results in a "detecting VRAM" message followed by a boot loop.

Does this mean slot 3 is a dead one ?

regards Andrew

Greetings and Welcome,
Lets start with the basics..  you have a X58 USB3 Rev ?, running BIOS 5fc (you think) with a Xeon x5650 CPU.

And you are using it with.. Memory Brand, Model # ???  Which is / is not on the QVL for your board?
