I am looking at replacing the workgroup server all its serves, is as a central data store, not realy a file server its a PC but failing.
Do I build a new PC using a server MB with two chips and lots of memory and raided HDD just to run a central data storage in a workgroup set up.
Or do I build a powerful PC to do the job I suppose what I am asking is it better to run a server MB instead of a PC MB just for a workgroup.?
10 clients & 8 Printers on the workgroup.
If you have a recommendation for a server MB please advise I have used these before.

I would suggest a QNAP NAS and equip with WD Red Drives.

I like WD drives but what about more power the qnap cpu looks a bit low on the speed?

When it comes to NAS, you get what you pay for. You have to spend the money for an intel based CPU. I'd also upgrade the memory (sodimms). Disks are the next biggest expense.
