Title: FIX Your 5850 OC edition
Post by: b0uncyfr0 on April 23, 2010, 04:45:25 am
Seriosly Gigabyte ive lot faith in you. You make a good card with an excellent cooler and its riddled with so many problems that it becomes a burden to use.

1. You fixed the 2d/3d problem thats a plus.

2. Why is the fan stuck on 55% at idle. The fan cannot be adjusted any lower. Why is it hardcoded to stay on 55% as a minimum?

3. Why isnt there voltage control? You call this your oveclock edition but you cant overclock that much with a locked voltage.

At least i would expect a big copmany like gigabyte to fix the 2nd problem. Seriosly a locked rpm on idle, thats so not 2010.

Have you used many high-end cards?

I have and without exception they all have fan profiles which prevent idiots from turning the bloody fans off, my Asus cards bottom out at 40%, perhaps that would be more to your taste?

I suspect a lot of us would just love cards where we can chop and change every parameter however we like, but my instinct tells me commercial interests dictate that having a zillion cards returned because some n00b turned the fan off, or cranked the voltage up high enough to cook an egg are not likely to let that happen :)
