I want to upgrade my PC. I'm going to buy 16 GB ram. Dual Modules (2x8GB) are expensive. If i buy two exact same single ram modules, will it work as a Dual Kit?

I say Yes. but memory companies will say No. What mother board do you have? That is how I bought memory for years. I feel as long as they are the same brand speed & timings you should fine.
I'm running 12gb of memory in a 1366 motherboard. 4 are double sided & 2 of them are single sided. It is running fine. But most of the times if you buy 2 single stick they will cost you more then if you buy a 2 stick kit.

My motherboard is GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0). If i buy three same modules can i use it as triple channel (my mobo supports)
My mobo has 6 slots, which has a better performance 6*4gb or 3*8gb?

What are all those white and blue slots mean. I don't understand.
I'm using 3*2gb kit. If i combine them with new modules i keep using them. (e.g. 3 white slots 3*2gb old ram / 3 blue slots 3*4gb new ram or = 18gb
3 white slots 3*2gb old ram / 2 blue slots 2*8gb ram = 22 gb)
Or all the ram size must be same in order to use them?

If you were going to use only 3 sticks of memory you would use the white slots. Now when you add memory you then use the blue slots. Look at the book it will tell you when you add memory how it will work. Dual channel or triple channel.
Plus I just pick up on what you said. You want to install 8gb sticks they might not work. 6 4gb sticks would be the best. The CPU might only support 4gb per channel.

Thaks for your advice. Today, i tried 3*8gb modules in a local store (even they're not identical modules) and it works without problems.
