hello,
Just started a new build and I'm having issues with getting the computer to boot with the ram I have. I have a z170n gaming 5 board with ram kit from evga, 16gb dual channel set at 2400. I can install a single 8gb stick and boot the computer just fine but upon installing the 2nd stick the computer will not boot simply turn on for 20 seconds or so before turning off and powering up again, repeating the same process. I have switch out the sticks in each of the one slots to see if it might be one of the sticks however, windows boots fine on each stick just can't run them both.

You running them at the stock settings 2133 or trying to run them at 2400? Plus EVGA isn't any where on their Qualified Vendors List (QVL).

I got bios updated to the latest update and I have all setting on the bios set for optimized default. I just noticed it not on the list though evga ram is basically G. skill ram. It has no problem running one of the sticks but not both at the same time. Would getting a different brand fix the issue?

1. Will one stick of memory run either slot? Will it boot from slot 2. If it does boot from either slot it could be memory. It doesn't give to much info in the book.
2. Have you tried to set the XMP to one stick of memory. To see if it will boot to the 2400 settings. If it does boot then try to put in the other stick.
3. The memory controller is in the CPU. Check to see if you don't have a bent pin.

well here a new discovery the 2nd channel slot (slot furthest from the cpu) will not boot if a ram stick is in it at all.
