i have a question regarding the aorus z270x-gaming 7 motherboard, it has 3 sata express and 6 sata 6gb, could i use these together as 12 sata 6gb ports, ie do the sata express ports support using 2 sata connections per express port and do they not share ports/lanes (ie one disabling the other).
essentially, does the boards 3 sata express + 6 sata6 = 12 usable sata6gb ports?
thankyou for any and all help

This is a good question. While SATA Express does support 2 standard SATA data connectors per port, this is not clearly defined in the MB's manual. It cryptically states support for a single SATA Express device. Gigabyte also doesn't include layout diagrams of the boards resources any longer, so you can't easily determine things like the number of PCIe lanes, memory bandwidth, etc. it supports.
You'll have to contact support to get a definitive answer. Helpful if you could post their reply.

Hello,
According to the user manual page31 and 32, from my understanding you can use the ports as 6 SATA ports (provided there is no M.2 installed) OR 3 individual SATA Express devices.
Some of the SATA ports are unavailable if you have M.2 installed. You may refer to the user manual page 34 for more details.
The board doesn't have 12 SATA ports in total.

I'm inclined to agree that limited resource allocation will not allow standard drives to be used on the SATA Express bus.
