Hello. I have a brand new straight out the box X79 UD3 REV. 1.0, so it has the default BIOS.
When I switch my PC on, i can't get past the initial image screen into the BIOS menu (none of the shortcuts work, i can still cycle the capslock, numlock and scroll lock).
Is it because the CPU i7 3820 is only supported with F16 BIOS?
How can i update my BIOS??
Thanks in advance

Greetings,
If you don't have a supported CPU with your current BIOS rev, flashing is not possible. Before you proceed, I'd recheck all connections, test with a single DIMM installed, etc to rule out / confirm another issue.
Then, I'd contact the retailer where purchased and ask for their help getting your BIOS updated. Unfortunately, there isn't a way around this. Borrow a supported CPU, etc. Gigabyte support might allow you to RMA for update, but it would probably be quicker if you did it yourself.

I ruled out everything, except the CPU.
The thing is, if the CPU is not supported by my current BIOS version, what happens when i turn my PC on? Is it what I described? Stuck on the pre boot image that shows the shortcuts available.
Why can I cycle the locks on my keyboard and not go into the BIOS? Doesnt that mean that the PC didnt freeze?
The other questionar is, how do i know which CPU my BIOS version supports (out of the box) when the official site only shows CPUs supported by a newer BIOS version that I can't install.

This MB has been in storage for almost 6years so RMA por contacting the dealer is a no go. Borrowing a CPU por even buying a cheap one are my options bit i need to know which are supported with my current BIOS (which i dont know, all i know is that its the original BIOS version that comes with the MB)
