Title: GA-790FXTA-UD5 No screen display
Post by: bison21 on May 07, 2010, 10:07:40 pm
Heya,

I have bought a shiny new PC recently and put it together today.
After plugging everything in, the Monitor won't display any image on the screen.
All monitors realise that there is some input signal (the test image vanished) but after that, they just stay black.

My system:
Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5
OCZ Fatal1ty 550W
NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT Green Edition (Gainward)
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
GEIL 4GB DDR3 1333 CL7.0 DUAL CHANNEL

Okay what I have tried so far:

1. Unplug everything and putting it back together
2. Insert the Graphics Card in a different PC: Card Works, screen display works
3. Insert another graphic card (geforce 9500gt, gainward) in the new system: no display
4. Breadboarding (completely, motherboard etc)
5. Tried different monitors with the graphic card (VGA+VGI I), none of them would display anything (but work with other system)
6. Booted without RAM, no beeping. There is no beeping at all, I might have screwed up with the speaker slot, no idea..
7. Went to a local PC expert store whose guy told me there is nothing left I could do
8. Tried the x16_1, x16_2, x8 slots, none of them worked
9. checked online whether there are either compatibility problems regarding MB-GPU support or Green Edition Support (found nothing)

Anything annoyingly obvious I might have missed?
I have no idea what to do, hopefully some of you guys can help!

Cheers
Bison

Do you have both power connectors pluged into the board?  Check the power connectors to the graphics card. Can you Borrow another graphics card to test the slots?  and if it works check your bios settings for your graphics setup. Or you may have to get a bigger psu to handel the power. You may have a bad board.
Thats all I can think of .
